Getting involved, if you're diabetic, starts with accepting your diabetes and the responsibility for properly managing it. Diabetes is a serious disease that requires attentive care and directly affects more than 140 million people worldwide.  It is nothing to be ashamed of or keep hidden from your friends.  It is a constant challenge which needs your attention and the awareness of those around you. 

Taking care of your diabetes begins with education.  It is all about learning how to manage your diabetes the very best way you can so you can live life to its fullest.  It means finding the best possible diabetes care management team which can assist you with that challenge.  Your diabetes team can help you with nutrition, the benefits of exercise, and how to manage your medication and insulin needs.  If you want to get involved in outdoor activity, first visit your diabetes team.  Ask them how YOU can improve control of your diabetes.  For additional information on diabetes, diabetes management, the benefits of exercise, meeting other diabetics, and more, please refer to the MORE INFO page. 
 

Friends of IDEA 2000 

IDEA 2000 is committed to helping diabetics in Latin America who are in need and to furthering our understanding of diabetes and high altitude.  We have donate 100% of the money raise to our international diabetes needs partners who include Insulin for Life, the Declaration of the Americas on Diabetes, the International Diabetes Federation - South and Central American Region and our diabetes and altitude research partner - IEMM of Barcelona, Catalunya-Spain. 

We are still committed to raising money for education and supplies for diabetics in need.
