Acclimatization (July 19)
Today was an acclimatization day, after breckfast the group split up and headed out to do hikes of varying lengths and durations. Some headed out around the camp area whilst others set out to view the trail to camp1/ABC. With the weather hot much of the trails were wet and muddy as the snow melted and receded up the mountains. The trail to ABC turned out to be well trodden and a number of the group reached the pass at 4200meters and were able to view the trail as it dropped down and then climbed up the snow covered glacier.
This evening the group decided on a plan of ascent. To continue acclimatization, all members will ascend towards ABC in the morning carrying whatever group gear they are able. This will help begin the movement of equipment whilst allowing all group members to asses their own fitness for the long climbs ahead. Views continued to be spectacular with more of the mountains seracs and ice falls becoming visible as the snow melted away.
We will start earlier tomorrow to make best of the firmer snow conditions following what looks to be another cold night.
