As far as I can remember, my daily routine included brushing my teeth and taking shots. Now that I'm on a pump the shot part isn't quite daily, but I'll never get used to the finger sticks. They always hurt. There are a couple of companies working on non-invasive means for glucose monitoring. I really look forward to the day this becomes reality. Some of my siblings do too!
If I do the "healthy lifestyle" thing - eat right, exercise, and get enough sleep everyday I feel great. Who wouldn't? It truly amazes me that many folks think diabetes is limiting. Diabetes has never really compromised any of my activities. It only annoys me when I have to stop to eat while I'm having fun. Out of my 36 years, I've been climbing for 16 years, with periods of backpacking, skiing, running and biking. I've been a diabetic for 33 years.
My hometown is Worcester, Massachusetts. There are so many great climbing areas. One of my favorites is Ceuse, France with reasonable hotels, and good food. Others include the Cirque of Towers in Wyoming, Joshua Tree and Yosemite here in California. Mostly I've climbed all over New England spending many weekends at the Gunks. Recently I moved to Sacramento, California. Alpine peaks attempted, but not always summited, include Baker, Hood, and Shasta
