Will Cross, born in 1967, is the expedition leader of The Ultimate Walk and a world
class athlete.
A diabetic for twenty-four years, he has successfully ascended Denali, Aconcagua, Mt.
Blanc, the Matterhorn, Grand Teton and Alpamayo. He has also participated in expeditions
to Patagonia, Mountains of the Moon, the Sahara Desert, and the Thar Desert of
India.
Raised in England until he was 12, Mr. Cross has continually overcome obstacles as a
diabetic. At 18, he received Prince Charles', HRH, special permission to participate in
Operation Raleigh, an international program that organizes young people from 17 to 23 to
do service projects around the world.
His memberships include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Diabetes Exercise &
Sports Association, and the American Alpine Club and the American Mountain Guides Assc..
He was the recipient of a gold Congressional Award for exemplary service to the United
States, granted for his dedication to outdoor education.
Mr. Cross has a BA from Allegheny College, an MS in Education from Duquesne University,
and Secondary Principle's Certification from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently
the Principal of the Alternative School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a Fellow of the
Royal Geographical Society
